We hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July!
My how things change in a year. Last 4th of July I can remember watching the fireworks while holding on to my very wonderful secret. I had found out I was pregnant less than a week before. Justin and I were the only ones that knew of our teeny tiny Little Miss Doodle. Throughout the whole fireworks show I kept thinking about the baby growing inside me and trying so hard to picture what things would be like in a year. I can't believe that year has come and gone so fast. This 4th of July was certainly different than last year, but in such wonderful ways.
The 4th of July has always been a special holiday for our family. It was the first time Justin called me on the phone. I was on my way to the lake smiling and gabbing away when I lost reception. As soon as I got the lake house, I ran inside and dashed straight for the phone to call him back. We continued gabbing. I continued smiling. Every year since then I've announced how many years ago that fateful day was. Now we have a new marker to count the years going by.
Once again it's hard to picture what the next 4th of July will be like. Lucy will be over a year old, walking around in the yard and swimming with me in the lake. And I'm sure all the while I'll be thinking about the past 4th of July holidays and looking ahead to what will be in store for the next year to come, and smiling just the same.
