32 week update...

Our little family has had a busy week. On Tuesday we had our first childbirth class. We learned a lot, and I, for one, am very thankful to have the class. I'm actually surprised no one in the class takes notes. Maybe it's a college habit, but this material seems like something worth remembering! After the class I typed out all the information I remembered from the class. Maybe after the 5 classes are over, I'll make a book or something to carry with me to the hospital when I go into labor. I'm sure it wouldn't surprise many of you to see me referencing my homemade childbirth class manual during a contraction.

One of the biggest things I learned at the class (and probably least important in the long run) is that what I thought was the baby moving is actually practice contractions! Good to know! Of course I have now lost all confidence in knowing what is the baby moving and what is a contraction. That's what they all feel like, right? Like when I'm in labor, I'll still confuse contractions with the baby moving, right? Well, I can only dream. But really, what I thought was the baby pushing out her butt or head creating a big lump on my belly is actually a contraction! Who knew? My body can practice all it wants if that means it will be more equipped for labor (especially since the contractions only feel like the baby moving with little discomfort).

On Wednesday, we went to our 32 week OB appointment. This time the doctor was able to feel the outside of my belly and tell me how she is laying. I was very excited to have the mystery solved! Most importantly, she is head down with very little chance of flipping to a breech position! YAAYYYY!! She is also curved around my right side, which I could have told you with great certainty. Her back is along my right side with her butt up in my ribs. I frequently have to push her butt down out of my ribs because my ribs in fact are not going to move out of her way anytime soon and, well, it hurts. So, with her back and butt to my right all of her limbs are pointing left. I get a lot of little rolls and blips just to the left of my belly button. This all brings me back, however, to whether the big bulges I get on my right side (where her head, back, and butt are) are actually contractions or her pushing out. Again, I have lost all confidence in knowing the difference. I guess, for now, it doesn't matter.

On the nursery news front, J and I have narrowed down the wall color to 2 different shades of lavender. After we (/J) prime the walls in order to cover the berry color on the walls currently, we will get samples of the 2 colors and see what they look like actually on the wall. We are hoping to do this soon before the furniture arrives in the next 2-3 weeks!

Things are moving right along in order to prepare for LMD's arrival. The bigger she gets in my belly the nearer her arrival feels to me, and therefore, the more I get moving to get things ready. I've always worked better with a deadline, and there is no more serious deadline than her being here and demanding a safe and cozy room with a crib to sleep in! I'm on it, baby girl! Your parents won't let you down :)
